Pumping your own gas, living in a house with carpets and eating foods out of aluminum cans are just three of the countless ways toxic metals can enter your body. We can try our bests to reduce our exposure to toxins but the reality is, metals already live inside our bodies.
I learned a lot more about this after reading Anthony William’s Medical Medium: Secrets Behind Chronic and Mystery Illness and How to Finally Heal, and let’s just say, I’m a believer.
Here’s a little background info on the author: Anthony is a medium, meaning he can talk to spirits, or in his case one particular spirit who gives him health information.
When Anthony was only four years old, the spirit told him that his grandmother had lung cancer. Not knowing what lung cancer was, Anthony stood up from the dinner table, walked over to her, placed his hand on her chest and said, “Lung Cancer. Grandma has lung cancer.” His entire family was shaken and confused. His grandmother later scheduled a check-up and was diagnosed with the disease. Cue the goosebumps. Anthony claims that he can accurately diagnose and determine health problems of all people just by looking at them.
Whether you believe in mediums and spirits or not, his book has some incredible health tips.
Anthony believes most health problems are caused by heavy metals in our body—more specifically, viruses that feed off the metals. His book dives into the causes and cures to everything from ADHD to shingles to diabetes to anxiety to Alzheimer’s.
Since finishing this book, I’ve made some major diet and lifestyle changes. I’m also much more aware on the multiple ways these toxic metals enter our bodies. I’ll write more about this in the future and I can’t wait to share my knowledge with you.
For now, here is one simple, easy thing that you can do to help: consume metal detoxing foods every day. For me, it’s easiest to throw all of them into a blender and drink it in the morning. I feel proud of myself every time I lick the bowl clean knowing I’ve done something amazing for my health—before I even get dressed.
Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie
1-3 Bananas (I do one but sometimes two if I’m really hungry)
½ cup-1 cup Wild Maine Blueberries
1 tbs Atlantic Dulse
1 tsp Spirulina (preferably this one from Hawaii)
1 bunch Cilantro
1 tbs Barely Grass Juice Extract Powder (but I use this greens powder which has this ingredient in it)
Here’s Anthony’s explanation for these foods:
Dulse draws mercury, lead, aluminum, copper, cadmium, and nickel out of the digestive track and gut.
Spirulina draws metals out from the brain, central nervous system, and liver.
Barely grass juice extract powder draws heavy metals out of the spleen, intestinal tract, pancreas, thyroid, and reproductive system.
Wild Blueberries (only from Maine): Draw heavy metals out of your brain tissue, healing and repairing any gaps created by oxidation when the heavy metals are removed. WOOHOO Maine!
Cilantro: Goes deep into hard-to-reach places, extracting metals from yesteryear (so it’s great for that mercury inheritance you’re carrying around!)
Here’s the thing, Cilantro is supposed to be one of the most healing ingredients in this smoothie, but I think it ruins the taste. However, I’ve noticed it’s grown on me and I actually like it more now! So, what I do is I blend up the bananas, blueberries and any other fruit like oranges or cherries, FIRST. Then I pour that mixture in a bowl. Next I blend up all the green stuff and pour it on top. This makes the smoothie taste SO much better. You can taste the fruit a lot more and the cilantro is less overpowering. Plus, it makes it a lot more aesthetically pleasing.
I USED TO NOT ALLOW MYSELF SMOOTHIES
Yup. You read that right. Smoothies were off limits for me for two reasons 1. Sugar 2. I’m usually hungry 20 min later. Drinking a meal doesn’t satisfy me.
I addressed my first problem by getting over my “fruit fear” and realizing that fruit is nature’s medicine and the sugar is natural, much different than eating a snickers bar.
